Chrlstchurch, Not. 30. There Is nothing new to report in connection ; with grain and produce lines. Cabled advice ; received to-day states that La; Plata oats j were selling at 41s 6d per quarter,' equal to : a New Zealand price of 43s to 4Gs. This : 13 a drop practicaily of is per bushel on the ■ sales of two months ago, and consignors i jU3t at present have not a very busy outlook. I Some forward business in oats has taken ! place, but at a price that is not very en- • couraging to next season's growers. The I tusiness is of tJ:o "paper oats" character, '■•.' A may be taken purely as a speculative ; .-hot rather than a probsL.'e basis of values, however, sales havo taken p'.acc- on tha basis ■ ? Ms Bd, South bland, f.o.b. equal to 2s 9d • r 2s lOd to farmers at country stations. j '.Villi wheat at 7s (id and barley at 7s, this price is a daringly low c.uo. so much so that if farmers were satisfied that It was to be the ruling one next season they would be in feeding their oats. Chaff has heon tte subject of a little movement, but the Blenheim district is monopolising practically all the North Island trade, and local quotations are Bs, 5.1., f.o.b. There has been some retail business In ;:erennial ryegrass, and sume lines hare ni.inged hands at is for machine dressed. This is equal to 7s 3d per fanner's sample.
