RACING COMMISSION.
| THE PRELIMINARY MEETING. By Telegraph.—P-ess Association Wellington, Nov. 30. A preliminary meeting of the Commission appointed to make recommendations as to the number and distribution of totalisator permits next season was held to-day. Mr. Earl. K.C. (Auckland), chairman, decided that the proceedings of the Commission should not be open to the public. With regard to a communication from Mr. L. ; M. Tsitt, M.P., asking that he be heard on the moral and economic aspect of matters coming within the jurisdiction of the commission, it was resolved that, in each of this four principal centres, two or three speakers be heard 011 the general question of the issue of additional permits. The commission will fneet again on January 11 and start on its itinerary.
