At the recent General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church it was decided to oll'er the position of director of ycui'h work for the Presbyterian Church to the Rev. R, 11. Rybum, minister of St. Andrew's Ciiureh. Mr. Rybum withheld acceptance till he had consulted his cengregation. A meetinp of tiie congregation was held to-night, when it was decided that while re gietting the prospect of Mr. Ryburn's departure, to place no obstacle iu the way of Mr. Rybum accepting the position. Mr. Rybum then announced tliat lie would a'ceept the position, if he declined he would feel lie had shirked his duty, FINNS AS IMMIGRANTS. Auckland, Last NightWith a view to establishing a ViceConsulate in the Dominion, Mr. K. Naukler, Consul General for Finland in Australia, is at present visiting New Zealand, Mr. Naukler stated to-day that there was a prospect of immigration of Finns of a, good stamp to New Zealand. He is also endeavouring to establish trade relations betweep his country and New Zealand. RAFFLES AND JUVIgfILES. Wellington, Nov. 30. The Minister of Internal Affairs announces that he intends to stop the practice of juveniles selling tickets for raffles. We will make a provision that no boy under 14 years and no girl under IG years shall be allowed to sell or oft'er for sale tickets in any street, hotel, j shop, office, factory, hoarding-house, or I at any gathering of the public or in any public place.
