THE DUPLEX TRUCK.

— A REMARKABLE MOTOR. W. G-. Campbell and Co., Ltd., motor importers and garage proprietors, Wangamii, were allowing for tlie first time at the Stratford Show. Their exhibit consisted of an Anderson siicylinder eonvertable Roadster, painted green and black, and the world-famed Duplex truck four-wheel drive. The Anderson car has a patented body feature. The rear seats fold up, turning the car into a two-seater. The rear seats, when dosed down, provide a splendid locker, in which the owner can store his luggage and rugg. This car was admitted by all to be the best finished car on the grounds. The public were shown the wonderful Duplex truck. Great crowds were seen around it throughout the day, and this tempted some to ask what was tlie cause of the crowds. Mr. Campbell, tlie managing director of Campbell, Ltd., put tlie truck through some simple feats. Owing to want of show space nothing better could be obtained. The public were certain that the truck was beaten on one occasion, but when chains were put on, it overcame it task easily. Mr. Campbell then backed tlie truck down hill on a wet, grassy, and steep bank. A great crowd gathered round and were certain it would not get out. To the astonishment of all, the Duplex, with the engine running quite slowly, crawled up over the bank just as if it was 011 the flat. The wheels never even skidded. Time after time it was driven back over the bank. Then a log of wood was put in front of a rear wheel, but the Duplex would not stop. It simply took the obstacle in easy stride. The visitors were quite satisfied that no other truck could perform such feats. Time after time Mr. Campbell heard remarks of praise being made. Here are some of the remarks overheard: "She won't do it." "Ves, she will." "Oh, its a boautv." "Bring along your and see how it would act. "'Never in your life!" "How easily she does it," etc. Mr. Campbell assured the public that the photographs shown were not faked, |£d did the stunts to help prove what a Duplex -four-wheel drive and double gear reduction can do. Wherever a Duplex truck is sold it becomes the truck of its class, and can undertake the pulling out of the two-wheel drive trucks when in difficulties. This is taking place all over the world, and will take place here in New Zealand. Truck owners are invited to get in communication with Messrs. W. E. Campbell and Co., Ltd., of Wanganui. They are the distributors for half the North Island. Catalogues will be sent/ on request, and demonstrations arranged'! The one at the show was the short chassis metal dump truck, hydraulic tip, with temporary locking. Price fl7i")0. The commercial long chassis, 14 feet behind driver, will sell for about i £l»6Q.—-Publuiud by anaugameav
