INCOME TAX.
THE SYSTEM OF PAYMENT. By Tslegrapli.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Touching on income-tax payments Mr. Massey told the Chambers of Commerce deputation that a suggestion had been made that income-tax should be payable in two instalments each year. He had gone into-the matter, and found it would involve an increase in statf and office work, and mean additional departmental expense. Under certain conditions, such as had once occurred, and when Treasury bills had to be issued to tfinanoe the country's expenditure, lit would be convenient if income-tax was, coming in twice a year. The matter was under consideration now, and would not be lost sight of.
