REGISTERING BARMAIDS.

EVASIONS OF THE LAW. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. L. M. Isitt (M.P. for Christchurch North) had a question on the order paper at the end of the session with reference to barmaids. He suggested that the scheme of registration was not effective, and that many barmaids were using the certificates of other women The manifest age of some of the women, he said, made it highly improbable that they were registered in 1910, when the lists were supposed to be closed. The Minister for Labor, in reply, states that legislation is required to cover the points raised. The Crown law draftsman has been instructed to prepare a Bill accordingly.
