WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) November 24. The local natives have been entertaining a large number of Maoris from all parts of Taranaki, it being Waitara's turn to hold one Of their many meetings The annual school concert which generally takes place at the close of the school term is under way. This year the teachers are fortunate in securing the services of Mr. and Mrs. H. Wiseman (who have had a good deal of experience in concert work) to coach the children. On Thursday last the Druids and Fire Brigade had a return match at card*, the Druids being the winners by one game. Regarding thp allocation of war trophies, the chairman of the Clifton City Council suggests that of the two machine guns allocated to them, one should be kept at Urenui and the other at Tikorangi, preferably at the school at both places. This course will be followed subject to the approval of the respective committees. Owing to the incessant rain on Sunday "last the unveiling of the Soldiers' Memorial at Tikorangi was postponed to a date to be fixed.
