VICTORIAN FARMERS' PARTY. Melbourne, Nov. 24. The Farmers' Party in the Assembly challenged the Government on the Ad-dress-in-Reply, on the grounds that they were dissatisfied with the policy. The Labor Party is nineteen strong, and holds the key to the position. QUEENSLAND'S PROSPERITY. Sydney, Nov. 24. A leading Queensland grazier states that the pastoralists there are enjoying a wonderful season. It is Ihe best for 3S years. Rain has fallen right through the winter just when it was wanted. Everythipg is flourishing, the seamen's strike alone, interfering with the large export of meat. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. UNSATISFACTORY NAVAL POSITION Sydney, Nov. 24. The Herald, dealing' with the naval position in the Pacific, characterises it as grave. It points out that all the cruisers of the Australian Navy are obsolete. With the exception of the destroyers anil submarines recently presented by the Imperial Government, she has no up-to-date vessels. While Australia depends entirely upon the British fleet, there is not a single dry dock, or floating dock, in the Pacific, capable of accommodating a battleship or battlecruiser of the British Navy.-Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
