By T»legraph.~Press Associate* Dannevirke, Nov. 24. The Minister of Public Works visited Dannevirke on Tuesday afternoon and heard several deputations concerning town and country requests. The Minister promised to place the Dannevirke Post Office on the list of urgent works and to call tenders for the new building within three to six months. The. matter of the Levin-Greatford railway deviation was referred to and a request made that nothing be done until the opinion of Hawke's Bay on the proposal was known. The Minister said the decision on the matter would be made known shortly after December 1 and, if necessary, Hawke's Bay would be consulted. He would refer'the request to Mr. Massey. Mr. t'oates left this morning for Pahiatua en route to Wellington.
A WOMAN SWINDLER
Auckland. Nov. 24 Christine Kate M'Donald, who posed Wk diamond merchant, pleaded guiltv in the Supreme Court to having obtained money by false pretences" with intent to defraud, involving a total sum of £l3fi. The Chief Justice said the case was remarkable. From the account of her goings on she did not look to be a sane person. He remanded her till Saturday for examination by a medical expert.
