THE FAITH HEALER.
SAID TO BE PRESBYTERIAN. Br Telegraph—Pren Association. Wellington, Last Night., At the Presbyterian Assembly, a resolution was passed requesting the Wanganui Presbytery to make a careful investigation of the facts concerning the works of healing through faith, as reported in the public Press, by Taihu Wairimu Ratana, of Ratana, and the fact that he is professing himself to be of the Presbyterian faith, and to make public its finding. NATIVES MUCH EXCITED. Te Kuiti, Saturday. It is estimated that 1000 Maoris have left the King Country to visit Ratana, the "miracle man," near Turakina. His fame has spread throughout the King Country, and returning natives express belief in his powers. One elderly Maori, well known in To Kuiti, who lias had to uso crutches for years, visited Ratana last week, and is asserted to have surprised the natives of his kaianga by returning with a walking stick, leaving his crutches behind. Many others suffering from minor diseases, such as eye afflictions, declare that they have been healed. The whole of the native population is muah excited by Ratana's advent, and taere is a general exodus. The express now stops at a flag station near Turakina to allow the natives to alight. The Maoris here say Ratana is not a tohunga, as he receives no payment.
