STRICT LAWS IN FUTURE. 1 . IMPORTANT REGULATIONS, . By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. Regulations under the' Arms Act have been issued. They are to come into operation on January 1 next. 1 Application for permission to carry a pistol beyond the home must be made to the police in a special form. It must state the purpose for which the weapon is required, and must be accompanied by a recommendation from some other person. The holder of a license to carry a pistol must notify the pulice of any change of address. No person is to be permitted to import arms, ammunition, or explosives without a permit issued by the police. An application for such a permit is to specify the articles proposed to bo imported. A permit to buy firearms, ammunition, or explosives, must be obtained by application to the police, and will be good for a period of six days only. The seller must specify the firearm on the back of the permit, and must return the document to the police. The regulations deal also with the possession of arms in prescribed areas. The Act provides that the Government may fix areas within which the possession of arms, ammunition, and explosives will be unlawful, except pursuant to a license issued by the police. Such license may be revoked at any time,, and the hofSer must notify the police o'f any change of address. The Act requires that any person owning a firearm must register it and the application for registration, must be made to an authorised police officer. The registered owner of a firearm must notify any change of address to the police.
