The Royal Commission which is inquiring into the salaries of members of Parliament has concluded taking evidence, the bulk of which suggested that members should receive at least £IOOO and the Premier £3OOO annually. • Melbourne, Nov. 20. Before the Taxation Commission a representative of a leading British firm gave evidence that British investors were withdrawing capital from Australia, because of the double taxation. Sydney, Nov. 20. Replying to a deputation of unemployed, Mr. Cann stated that the Government had warned unskilled laborers not to come to New South Wales. Already there were 10,000 seeking employment. Melbourne, Nov. 20. In the House of Representatives, Mr. Hughes urged that the Victorian Government should take the coal dispute to the High Court, failing which he would appoint another tribunal with Mr. Justice Hibble as chairman to review the disputed portion of the award. Mr. Imwsoii had refused both, but was negotiating with Mr. Baddeley, the miners' president. Mr. Lnwsoi stated that the Ministry was making preparations in readiness for n conflict which it is estimated will affect upwards -if 200,000 workers.—Aus.N.Z. Cable As»n. Sydney, Nov. 20.
