In writing these short articles week' by week we have never been jo foolish as to either think ourselves qualified, nor felt the necessity for producing arguments to prove the Bible to be the WORD of the living God. The Holy Scriptures stand easily heail and shoulders above all other writings, ancient and modern, every dispassionate reader, whatever his religion or irreligious convictions, must readily admit. And in spite of the attempts of H. G. Wells, Sir Conan Doyle, and of Canon Barnes to discredit Holy Writ, it still holds the field as the history of God ait'd of His activity within the realm of human history. In spite of all attacks against the authority and veracity of the Bible, it'is still the most largely read book in the world. Think of it; one circulating agency in Britain alone, the British and Foreign Bible Society, last year announced that its sales and distribution had reached the enormous total of over three hundred million volumes. However, what we are seeking to do is to point out that the signs of the close of this dispensation—not the end of the world —must be near. We desire that our effort, feeble though we feel it must be, will yet be owned of God to emphasise. His dagner signals, which through his prophetic'word were meant for this day. liven quite irreligious people have felt how ibnormal the weather has been this year, and the latest cables tell of a terrible famine now being experienced in China, bear out our contention that the signs from nature proclaim the close of the Age. The political sign is even more wonderfully in evidence. In the House of Lords on the 23rd February, 1914, Lord „Selborne ..publicly affirmed'his belief that the political movements of the worldwide sway of democratic government and its doom as foretold in the book of Daniel, chapter 2, verses 41 to 4i>. There can be no question, if we are Hearing the end of this dispensation, that the coming of Christ to t?ke away His people out of the world before God's judgments descend must ha at hand.
