The Labor Party has issued a manifesto demanding the withdrawal of all armed forces from Ireland, and placing the responsibility for the maintenance of order on local authorities, and the immediate election of a constituent assembly to formulate whatever constitution the Irish people desire. A Commission of seven from the committee of a hundred investigating the Irish question, will open hearings 'tomorrow with two Mayors from Ireland, John Durham, of Balbriggan, and Dennis Morgan, of Thurles, as witnesses. The Commission intends sending a sub-com-mittee to Ireland for first hand investigations. The British Embassy in refusing an invitation of representation, points out that it could not approve of the purposes of the enquiry, and the only resist will be a spreading of propaganda. Irish Republican leaders in the United States, under the direction of De Valera, have completed the country-wide organisation of the American Association for recognition of the Irish Republic, which aims to supplant the Friends of Irish Freedom as the leading Irish organisation here—Aus.-N.Z.
