URENUI DEFEAT NEW PLYMOUTH. The New Plymouth cricket team journeyed to Urenui yesterday afternoon, and after a most enjoyable game played on a splendid turf wicjtet, suffered defeat on the first innings by sixteen runs. Additional pleasure was added to tl: e outing by the action of the Urenui ladies in providing afternoon tea for both teams during an interval. Now Plymouth hatted first and thanks to a splendid display by W. Nicoll, who carried his bat right through the innings for a well played 50, reached 90 before the last wicket fell. Woollett (13) was the only other batsman to reach double figures. O'Neill (4 wickets for 20 runs),»and Blundel! (3 for 3G) wore the most successful bowlers.
