Thousands of panic-stricken refugees are arriving from the Crimea in all sorts of vessels, large and small, in addition to warships. Many are suffering from wounds and exposure. The hospitals are overcrowded, and the influx is causing a food shortage. The refugees state that the Reds attacked from the cast and tho north, sending down clouds of poisonous gas. The defenders were not supplied with masks, and suffered enormous casualties. A panic started among the civilians, and the Red prisoners and Bolshevik adherents fomented the revolution. General Wrangcl and a small group of officers proposed to defend the ground to the death, although a French cruiser offered to rescue General Wrnngel, and also appealed to the Allied warships to shell the advancing Reds, but the officers replied that they could'not do this without Government orders.—Aus.-N.Z. AN ORDERLY EVACUATION. SUCCESS DUE TO POISON GAS. Constantinople, Nov. 10. The evacuation of Sebastopol was conducted in perfect order. The local Soviets in charge stated that the Bolsheviks' success was largely due to the use of poison gas. They admit the loss of thirty thousand killed.—Reuter Service. LENIN IS JUBILANT.' SUCCESS OF THE BOLSHEVIKS. Received Nov. 18, 12.10 am, London, Nov. 16. Lenin is jubilant. He is reported as . declaring that Wrangel's defeat was be- : yond the Bolsheviks' fondest dreams, but Sovietdom will not be safe until there has been at least one revolution in Western Europe.—United Service. WRANGEL ESCAPES. Constantinople, Nov. 15. General Wrangel escaped aboard a Russian cruiser filled with soldiers. Three transports carrying 20,000, and a fourth filled with wounded, have departed for an unknown destination.
