The Star states that the same section in Ireland which called oil' the hungerstrike is expected to urge the extremists to abandon the anti-police campaign. It is suspected that the Sinn Fein is reaching the end of its resources, owing lo financial necessities, especially the excessive rise in rates due to the stoppage by the British Exchequer of grants. Sir Hamar Green wood, in the House of Commons, said it was unnecessary to apply martial law to Ireland, as" the Government possessed overwhelming evidence that, authority and law were reestablishing themselves throughout the country.—Aus.-N.Z.
