HARBOR BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) November 10. The monthly meeting of the Harbor Board was held last Friday. Present: Messrs J. Hine (chairman), Spurdle, Gribbon. Allen. Nosworthy, and Ogle. The Farmers' Organisation asked for certain repairs to the building taken over by them, which was submitted to the Works Committee and agreed 10. They also asked for ;t live years' lease of the store lately held by Nolan and Co. The Works Committee explained that liiey had seen the general manager of the .Society, and they had informed him that the lease Mould have to be put up by public auction, but any improvements that they had made to the building would be protected, ft was decided to offer the lease by tender for ten years- at the upset rental of .£7."), :.he improvements to the on tent of .C4HO to be. protected. A refund of £7 His for storage was anted for by the Public W'orks Department, but it was considered by the board that the account was legitimate, and they could not see their way to make anv refund.
The occupancy of a piece of gorseeovered land, part of the pilot station, was applied for by Mr. J. Fairley, provided he could get it, at a nominal rental. It was resolved that Mr. Fairley be informed that a lease cannot be granted without competition. A yearly tenancy could be granted provided Mr. Fairley cleared the gorse. The following tenders warn received for a five years' lease of block 1.5 Waitara West: Mrs. F. Laing £l:2. J. Holloway £lO, T. U. Eweus £2O. The highest tender was accepted.
The secretary was authorised to call for tenders for the coming year, as from January 1, 11)21, for boulder and Single rights.
GENERAL. Mr. Stanley Clare, operator at the local picture theatre, has accepted an appointment, as manager and operator at the Manaia picture theatre. Mr. dare has had live years' experience at W'aitara.
