THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY. "By Telegratih.—rress Association. Wellington, Last Night. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of " New Zealand opened its sittings in St. John's Church to-night. The Rev. ,T. A. Aslier (Napier), retiring moderator, presided, and preached a short sermon. The clerk intimated that there was a roll strength of 244, comprising 13i» ministers and 100 elders. The retiring Moderator installed the Moderatorelect, the Rev. S. W. Currie (Balclutha) who delivered the inaugural address. The clerk produced a return of the ministerial changes during the year. There had been 15 ordinations, 29 inductions, six resignations and four deaths. After transacting formal business, the Assembly adjourned till tomorrow imiM,
