INDIANS FOR AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—rress Association. Wanganui, Nov. IG. Mr. W. A. Voitch, member of Parliament for Wanganui, received a cable from Suva yesterday, stating that about 140 Indians had arrived there, and were contemplating departure for Auckland at the first opportunity. Mr. Veitch has telegraphed to the Minister of Immigration, strongly recommending immediate: action to prevent the Indians coming to New Zealand.
WAGES OF ENGINE-DRIVERS. Christehurch, Nov. 10. An unusual procedure has been adopted by the Arbitration Court in an amendment to the Canterbury cugine-drivers' award, which was filed last week. The court has unloaded all previous bonuses and embodied them in a new basic wage. The highest grade engine-drivers are now being paid at the rate of 2s IJd per hour. <.
