For the third day's play of the match between the Englishmen and South Australia, there was a fair attendance. The wicket was excellent. Howell clean bowled Smith with his second ball for 15. Henry joined Pellew. Heame then put down a maiden over, and then Pellew shot one to leg boundary, and then similar full toss, making 50 (seven 4's) in S7 minutes. Pellew was nearly out leg before wicket at 45. Both batsmen appreciated Heame. Wilson displaced Heame, and with his fifth ball clean bowled Henry for 17. The partnership produced 4:;. V. Richardson brought up the first century. Howell, after twelve overs, was relieved by Douglas. When <S4, Pellew drove Douglas a magnificent left hapd catch, and the board read 107—3—1. Pellew made seven boundaries by ideal driving. The two Ri'clmrdsons - partnership saw slow scoring. Douglas was noballed twice. V. Richardson, when 11, was brilliantly caught by Hobbs at cover, and the board read": 125—4—12. Gehr, who followed, beautifully hooked Wilson to the fence, and then was clean bowled by Howell for 14. Stirling was bowled by the second ball from Howell, and the board read—--140—0—22. Rundell joined A. Richardson. The latter was missed at outfield by Hen.dren. Woolley relieved Heariie, and Richardson put him to the boundary, making 50 in 02 minutes. Richardson, who was playing solid cricket, got a variety of hits off Parkin, and brought 200 up with a late cut to the pavilion. At the tea. adjournment six wickets were down for 208 (Richardson 64, Rundell 10). Resuming, bright cricket was played by Richardson, who square drove Douglas to the houndavy with a fine hit, and later out the same bowler for four. Rundell 'and Richardson brought the century in 70 minutes. They played a great innings, treating all bowlers'alike. Rundell cut Wilson to the boundary, making his 50, and Richardson reached his century in one hour fifty-one minutes. Rundell's late cuts were superb, and this partnership was a pleasant surprise in the bad light, Rundell cut Wilson for four, and".loo was hoisted (Rundell 70, Richardson 103). The light now became worse. Rundell had reached 7S when he was bowled by Hearne. He gave a capital display. Richardson was still in for 109 when stumps were drawn owing to rain seting in. Scores:—
