THE MALE CHOIR.
THE SECOND CONCERT. On the second night of the New Plymouth Male Choir's concert season last night there was another large audience, and hearty appreciation ot the programme was shown. The part song. "Evening" (Franz Abt), was a favorite number, while the "Nun of Nidaros" (Dudley Buck) was another of the Choir's best effort a. "The Tattoo" (de Rille) was given with pleasing effect. The reception accorded Miss Teresa McEnroe was very cordial, and on each of Tier three programme numbers she was doubly encored. "Caro Nome" and "Wake Up" were artistically done, and her rendering of "The Last Rose of Summer" was very expressive. Among the encore items "Annie Laurie" was popularly received. The elocutionary items by Mr. Culford Bell were again much appreciated, and in both dramatic and humorous vein his parts were well carried out. "Mark Anthony's Oration" (Shakespeare) was very capably delivered, and he gave an able portrayal of the character sketch, "Saucer's Open School" (Dickens). "Wedding Day Speeches"' was another of Mr. Bell's items, in which he demonstrated his versatility. During the evening he was called on for numerous encores.
The concert concluded with a spirited rendering of the "Soldiers' Chorus" (Gounod) by the Choir.
