ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
At the annual meeting of the Eltham Patriotic League it was stated that during the past year £2029 had been paid out in relief, principally in the form of grants to disabled soldiers. The balance in hand is £S3 Is Id, and the question arose whether this should be held by the local body or given as a donation to the Taranaki War Relief Association. , It was decided to elect an executive only and not to appoint a general committee,, and the following gentlemen were elected: Messrs. G YV. Taylor, D. Symc, and T. B. Crump. The chairman (the Mayor) expressed the committee's warm appreciation of the services rendered during the six years of the committee's existence, by Mr. L .B. Grimstone, treasurer. They regretted he was leaving the district, and he would take with him their good wishes.
