HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated October 30, from the Hlsh Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — "Meat.—English, nn change in price. New Zealand mutton and lamb, good demand 'or all descriptions at maximum prices: Hues S'J, cut wethers Bd, uncut vetl'ers !)d, lamb Is Id per lb. New Zealand beef: Small supply of ox has been sold for 10% d and 7d; cow M and s'id per lb., hinds and fores respectively. "Butter.—English and Irish, conditions ;-ro unchanged. "Cheese.—Market is quiet for all descriptions; prices maintained with difficulty. English, up to £9 0s per ewt (is 8d per lb.) : Canadian, white £T 14s to £S per ewt. (Is 4^d to Is fid per lb) ; colored, £8 !o £8 4s lift cwt (Is 5d to Is V.d per ll>) ; tions, c.i.f., £7 10s to £7 His per ewt. (Is 4%<1 to Is 5d per lb). "Hemp.—Market is very iiuiet, largo'.v due to coal strike. Manila, small business ,'.t lower prices. ".I" grade July-September shipment sold at £6O per ton; NovemuerJsnary shipment, £OS per ton. Boilers' present quotations are: Spot £O7 per ton: July-September and August-October shipments, £OS 10s per ton; September-November and October-December shipments, £OS per ton. New' Zealand neglected: Quotations are nominal, owing to the absence of lusincss; spot, higbpolnts, £SO, and fair £54 10s per ton; October-December stipment, £55 and £53 per ton respectively. "Wool.—Next series of Government London auction sales will commence on Noveiaiber 8 if the miners will accept settlement offered. Ballot will be east on Nov. 2."
DANTERBURY GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. Chrlstrhurch, Nov. 2. The produce market is quieter all round than it was this time last week, and there nro, except for potatoes, no alterations in prlcun. Potatoes aio unsaleable, and with new crops becoming available in the North Island, it is now almost impossible to place old stocks. Last week potatoes were quoted at from £1 53 to £1 10s per ton, but today the price reported by merchants was £1 to £1 2s Od, end even then sales were few. There has been very little doing In cats, and
nil tin -wteat has lons since been marketed. The chaff market Is dull, and none has been offered during the last few days.-- i
