LABOR IN LOCAL POLITICS.
SEVERE DEFEATS IN ENGLAND. By Telejraph.—Press Assn.—Ccpyrijlit. Received Nov. 3, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 2. An analysis of the returns in the tttilticiml contests show that 747 Labor candidates contested 70 boroughs and 189 were returned. The worst defeats were at Liverpool and Bradford, where the entire tickets of 23 each failed to win a single seat. A similar complete failure is reported from 16 other boroughs, while only two Norwich and Rotherham have hitherto returned all Laborites. Of the Liberals and Conservatives there is no marked change, but Independent! advocating a reduction of fates met with considerable success.— BeUtef Service.
