In the House of Representatives yesterday, njplying to Mr. (J. Mitchell (Wellington South), Air. Massey sail} that so far as ho knew wool sales would be held in New Zealand next season, and he presumed the prices ruling at these sales would govern the prices of wool supplied to the woollen factories.

A meeting of the Western Park Committee Board was held 011 Tuesday 1 niglit. The chairman having explained the amount of work that, was required to be done at the Park, it was resolved to hold a working bee at the grounds on Thursday, November 11. Mr. F. ,T. Hill was appointed overseer for the ensuing month. "Cheques and Endorsements" was the subject of an address given last night at the quarterly meeting of the Employers' Association at New Plymouth by Mr. A. McHardv. The speaker dealt with various points such as dates, payees, the different kinds of endorsements, and the various methods in connection with crossings of cheques, and dealing with same. The address occupied about half-an-hour, and at the conelusion several questions were answered by the speaker. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. MeHardy for his efforts. The general business of the association was also dealt with by the meeting. Mr. Albert Spencer, of the Auckland Association, who is 011 a visit to Taranaki in connection with organisation work, was introduced to members.

Stephen Harris, a laborer, made a murderous attack on his wife at Wanganui on Sunday morning and then attempted to commit suicide. The pair had had domestic differences, and on Salurday night occupied different rooms. In the morning Mrs. Harris' father, Mr. . A. G. Whibley, who is employed as an ! accountant by one of the firms in town, took them each a cup of ten. and then went out to work in the garden. Hearing loud screams of distress, he rushed back into the house and discovered both his daughter and Harris with their throats cut. Medical aid was at once 1 sought, and the police were summoned. It was found that Harris had severed his windpipe -.villi a, razor and lie was taken in the ambulance to the public hospital. Mrs. Harris' injuries proved to be less severe, as beyond a bad gash in the throat, no vital spot had been touched. She was al.-o suffering from a wound over the eye, which is believed to hare been caused by a hammer which was found in the room. Both are progressing favorably. The Onakaka Iron and Steel Company, formed to treat the iron ores of Parapara, has been successfully floated. A stall, has been made with transferring tho plant from Moturoa, New Plymouth, to Golden liay. It is expected the company will be in a position to cater for the wants of New Zealand in the matter of iron and steel within six months. Owing to the Boys' High School sports having been postponed to November 11, St. Mary's Rose Show and Guild Sale will now be held on Wednesday and Thursday, November 17 and IS. Entries close on November 16. Schedules are obtainable from the secretary, or from the City Fruit and Flower Co., Itpvon Street.
