Watson (bitting members), and J. ,S. Tosland, who was an unsuccessful candidate at a recent by-election, are standing. In the Opua riding the sitting members, Messrs „\l. O'Brien and T. .!]. 11. Sinclair, are opposed by ill'. Kobei't Ferguson, whilst in the Kaliotit riding there ate six candidates for three seats, namely, Messrs W. R. Wright-, .James Young, W. (ireen (sitting members)," A. F. Chapman, George (iibson, and H. J., Donald. For the election of two representatives on the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, the sitting members, Messrs S. Campbell and James Voting, are opposed by Mr. 51. O'Brien.

CLIFTOX NOMINATIONS. Nominations for seven councillors for (he county of Clifton closed yesterday. In three instances the sitting councillors were, unopposed, namely, Messrs F. C. .Tones (Mokau riding), 11. JL Foreman (Tikorangi riding), and 'f. McKenzie (Waihi riding). For the new riding (I'ruti) Mr. T. 11. Barnitt was the only candidate. An election will be necessary in, connection with two ridings, and will take place 011 November 10. In the Urenui riding, for which two councillors have to be selected, the following nominations were received: Messrs R. 11. Piggot, C. Musker (sitting members), ,T. F. Campbell, S. H. Herbert, and I'. Sutton. In the Ngatiinaru riding (one vacancy) Messrs S. J. Pennington, (sitting member) anil R. 11, Harrison hnve been nominated. Mr. A. IT. IJalcombe was elected to represent the county 011 the Taranaki Hospital Board.
