Wellington, Last Night. The council of the Wellington Clamber of Commerce to-day passed a resolution "that the retail price of butter should be 2s 4d, giving a fair return for handling the commodity." In the course of a discussion the principle of paying the producers a subsidv from the Consolidated Fund, in order to keep down the price to the local consumers, was condemned as being unsound in principle. The president (Mr. A. Carr) held that the producers should r>et what price they could for their produce, but he urged that the time had arrived when the producers should pay for the grading of produce,
