ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Oct. 29. At the executive meeting of the Eltham branch of the Farmers' Union, a 'letter waa read in which the Department of Immigration asked for details oi the requirements of the farmers in the district with reference to labor. The secretary was instructed to give the necessary information, and members requiring farm hands were asked to supply the secretary with particulars of their needs. The president reported that he had visit Toko, where root growing competitions were held, and strongly advocated starting a branch of the Root Growing Association in Eltham. He was well satisfied that the benefits derived from these competitions were enormous. It, wt. too late to start thip season, but he hoped a branch would lie formed as soon as possible. The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That this branch of the N.Z.F.U. pledges itself to support in every way possible the league of loyal citizens in order to carry out the conditions of law and order, and to uphold the rights of our constitutional Government."'

The Swimming Bath will be open to the public this season if arrangements satisfactory to the School Committee, can be made by the townspeople. A committee has therefore been formed to take charge of the bath at the times when it is being used by the public. Mr. R. Glbbings (chairman), Mr. S. Holder, secretary; and Messrs. W. Bichono, P. Hawkc, A. W. Holder, and R. King. The necessary repair's will be undertaken and .the bath will be available for the townspeople from (i.30 to 7.30 in the morning, and from 5 o'clock to 6.30 in the evening; it will not bo open on Sundays. It is hoped to secure the help of ladies so that they may have the bath sot apart for their sole use at certain times. Efforts are made to have the baths ready so as to be opened to the public on Thursday, November 11.
