STRATFORD A. & P. SHOW.

ADDITIONAL COMPETITIONS. What is generally looked upon as the opening event of the Taranaki Season takes place on the 2-1 tli & 25t)i November, when the Stratford A, & V. Asoeiation hold their Annual ISliow. The Stratford Show is now the only spring show in Taranaki, and it is here that the farmer has the opportunity of entering his stock for competition at the season of the year when they show up to tlio best advantage. The schedule of classes, which is now in circulation, should meet the requirements of farm and home alike. Although Stratford is essentially a dairying district and the strongest feature of the show, dairy cattle, yet all kinds of stock have been catered' for in a way which compares favourably with i other districts. From a perusal of the schedule it will be seen that additional attractions are being offered in the cornpetitions /or hunters, a wire jump being introduced, besides a challenge trophy for the Open Hunter's Competition in addition to the prize money given. The horse section generally lias been overhauled and brought up to date. In the pedigree ,cattle section the society has provided for all breeds on the " same scale, special classes and prizes being allotted by members of local branches of the breed societies. By erecting i-ovcrcd-in cattle pens for pedigree milking stock, exhibitor* should have im hesitation in sending their most vala able aniirjals to the Show Both tile, pig and sheep sections are well catered for whilst considcrabl: alterations are noticeable in the industrial sections, a feature of tlr last named being classes devoted to junior competitors. From enquiries received at the oHicc, this .rear promises to produce an entry equal to the Society's best efforts. Exhibitors who have not received a. copy of the schedule will receive one by return mail by sending word to the secretary.
