A WAR MEMORIAL.
AT WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL, Bj Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 27, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 26. The Rev. C. F. Askow, of Wellington, New Zealand, in a farewell sermon in aid of the military chapel for the Cathedral at Wellington, announced that Martha] Foch had contributed a French standard under which the New Zealanden fought in 1918. The French Generals Petain, Berthelot, Demestro, and Anthanie, the Italian General Delbricei, and the Belgian General Mollis, are sending priceless trophies as a tribute to New Zealanders whom they commanded. Other contribuors include General Pershing, Lord Haig, and Generals Allenby, Homer, Home, Rawlinson, and Birdffke Rev. Askow, feterviewed, said he was sailing on Saturday. He was not dlUMsed to disclose the amount of money AJOeeted, but it was sufficient to start the chapel. He anticipated the total wjprfd finally reach £l6,ooo.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
