BOLSHEVIK ACTIVITIES.
; A COURIER ARRESTED. By Telegraph.— Press Assn.—Copyrisht. London, Oct. 2n. The Daily Mail slates that detectives arrested at Hampstead a supposed secret courier of the Bolshevik Government who was engaged in bringing letters and money to England. He declined to give any account of himself, Documents of great importance were secured and startling disclosures are expected.— United Service. London, Oct. 20'. The youth who is believed to be a Bolshevik spy was charged with failure to register as an alien. The police stated that he was a most dangerous undesirable, and_was manifestly acting between the revbluFionists in England and in Russia. Among his papers was found a letter from Miss Sylvia Pankliurst to Lenin, in which the former said that the situation in England was most. acute. It was not yet ready for a revolution, but was moving swiftly thither. Ex-soldiers were armed and drilled, "but don't exaggerate; these things are not formidable yet." She makes several references to a campaign of seizing factories, and recounts how members of her party broke up Mr. Lansbury's meeting because he advised peaceful methods. She informed Lenin of the arrest, and said she expected six nontlw' imprisonment. She feared the ungei'-strike weapon was useless, as the Government allowed Irish hunger-strikers to die. Nothing would come of propaganda work unless the Third International furnished the promised chairman. The accused was seen in company with Miss Gilbertson, a British Communist, leaving the home of Colonel Lestrange Malone, a member of the House of Commons. He gave no name, and was remanded.—Aus.-N.Z. Bolshevik envoys who recently established themselves at Bokhara accupied the Emir's palace. the Bolsheviks were removing the Emir's supplies of ammunition from the palace an explosion caused many casualties. In ,view of recent inflammatory speeches, the Governor of the Punjab lias prohibited public meetings in the districts of Lahore and Amritsar,— Reuter Service.
