MISHAP TO A STEAMER. Uy Telegraph,—Press Association Dunedin, Oct. 20. Wlii'.-t 011 the voyage from Wellington to Dunedin the steamer Stella struck an object about forty miles north of Otago Heads and sprang a leak amidships. She readied port on Monday afternoon. The pumps were kept constantly going and coped with the inflow. SENTENCE ON A YOUTH. Wellington, Oct. 2G. In (he Supreme Court a youth named Alfred Veneagh Holmes, who pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering at Wanganui, was sentenced to detention for reformative purposes for two years.
