A Special Meeting of the INGLEWOOD COUNTY COUNCIL, held at Inglewood on the 9th day! of October, 1920. A Special Meeting of the CLIFTON; COUNTY COUNCIL, held at j Waitara on the 9th day of October, 1920, Annotation was pasted as follows: "That in pursuance and in exercise of the power* conferred npon it by "The Counties Act, 1908," "The Publio Works Act, The Public Health Aot, 1909," "The Motor Regulation Act, 1905," "The Explosive and Dangerous Goods Act, 1908," "The Public Reserves and Domains Aot, j 1908," and the several Acts am- j ending the same respectively, and of every other power in this behalf enabling the Counts of the Counties of Hawera,, Eltham, Waimate West, Egmont, Stratford, Inglewood and Clifton do hereby by Special Order make and ordain a By-Law intituled "The Taranaki Counties Joint By-law, 1920," in the form and words of the prepared By-law now before this meeting, and I Which said prepared By-law has been signed by the Chairman of this County for the purposes of identification, each Joint By-law to be in force throughout the Counties of Hawera, Eltham, Waimate West, Egmont, Stratford, Inglewood and Clifton. The object and purport of the proposed "feist By-law is:— PART L—Relates to interpretation and Penalty Clauses and repeals prior By-laws. PART ll.—Relates to Licensing Vehicles, defines various vehicles, requires same to be licensed, requires Drivers and Conductors to be licensed, defines conditions of License and rules to be observed in carrying passengers for hire, and powers of Inspectors' authority to cancel licenses. i PART ID.—Relates to motor cars, motor delivery vans, motor waggons, and motor cycles. Defines the various motor vehicles, the conditions under which same may be used, the appliance to be attached to same, the abolition of spot lighta. PART IV.—Relates to Heavy Traffic. Requires vehicles engaged in Heavy Traffic to be licensed. Provide* for License Pees, weight of various vehicles, compensation for damage done for cancellation of licenses, for measurement of weight of load. Condition* under which bridges and culverts may be crossed. Number and weight of trailers. Production of License on request. Closing Road* to Heavy Traffic, giving notice of specific contracts, speed of traction engines, condition* under which traction engines may be used on roads and across bridge* and culverts. PART V.—Relates to width of tyres on wheels. Provide* for minimam width of tyres, ascertaining weight of loads. Abolition ' of oval tyres, requires Drivers to a**i*t in ascertaining weight of load, provides penalty for refntal, and this part of this Bylaw doc* not apply to vehicles driven by mechanical power. PART Vl.—Relate* to Buildings, Drainage, Nuisances, Keeping of Animal* and Privies. Provide* penalty for breach, require* permit w build home*.
