MORE COAL SOON.
PUKEMIRO WORKING AGAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association^ Auckland, Last Night. The Pukemiro mine opened again according to agreement this morning, but the full start's of neither miners nor engine-drivers are at work yet, and the company wil! not know until to-morrow how tilings are actually going.
In the meantime, no more trouble this side of Christmas is anticipated, as far as can be gathered, in any of the mines, and it should bo a matter of only a few month* before, the longexistent local shortage of coal is eased considerably. At the present time there seems to he 110 fear of'afiother suspension of any local services, unless some unforeseen dispute brings more trouble.
SEVEN MONTHS' LOSSES. Wellington, Oct. 20. A return prepared by the Coalmine Owners' Association shows that for seven months from the time the national agreement commenced, namely, from March 1, the output of the coalmines was unnecessarily reduced by the action of the miners, bv 59,33.'! tons; the miners lost in wages £•20,28."); the number of days lost, unnecessarily by the miners was 132. In all, the miners' goslow policy was responsible for the loss of 4545 tons of coal.
