(From Our Owu Correspondent,} Oct. 25. The Eltham Borough Council have given permission to the Plunkct Society to make a street collection in aid of the society's funds on November 20 and 24. In future the telephone service will be available on holidays between the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock, morning and evening', which is an extension ou the former times. The salary of the town clerk has been raised to SC'ioO per annum. The Eltham Boxing Association was formed at a meeting held at the Town Hall on Friday last. Mr. 11. D. Forsyth was elected president; Messrs. C. R. K. Cumming, A. A. Stewart, H. Gant, E. Casey, H. A. Nultall, and A. Pennington, vice-presidents; Mr. J. W. TurnbulL, secretary and treasurer; and Messrs. A. A. Stewart, H. Gant, C. 11. R. Gumming, I>. Hawke. L. Nodder, L. Tuke, C. Harrison, A. Pennigtfin, A. G. Mills, V Casey, H. Hawke and J. Cooper as the executive committee. The annual subscription was fixed at £1 Is.

SPORTS MEETING. The sports meeting of the Eltham Athletic League was held to-day, in spite of heavy rains. Eltham A team won the hockey tournament, winning two of the matches, and making a. draw with Stratford High School. The resuits of the matches were: Eltham A (1 goal) v. Hawera Technical (0); Stratford High (1) v. Eltham IS (0); Hawera (2) v. Stratford High (0); Eltham A fli v. Eltham B (0); Eltham A (1) v. Stratford High (1). The winners of the races were: Three mile cycle: A. Parker ], H. Andrews 2; Two mile cycle: A. Parker 1, H. Andrews 2; one mile (under 10): T. Whiting 2, O. Burrows 2; 440 yards run: E. Ansforth 1, H. Ward 2; 220 yards (open) P. Austin 1, G. Wilson 2;' 100 yards (maiden): P. Austin 1. Owing to the bad weather the five mile evclc race was postponed, and will probably be held on Thursday, Nov. 4.
