The election of members of the Stratford County Council and of five repre; senlatives of the .Stratford County on the Stratford Hospital Board, will take place on Wednesday, November 10. The executive of the Stratford A. and P. Association has decided to ask the Chamber of Commerce to urge on the Government the advisability of making a siding at the show grounds on Flint Road, in view of the decision to shift the railway station some distance away from the centre of tho town. The work of repairing the East Road from the borough boundary to the Kaliouri bridge, preparatory to being tarsealed, is proceeding, and when completed will be <Sf considerable benefit to the users of the road. Owing to Monday being- a holiday, the usifiil weekly meeting of the Boys' and Girls' Mutual Improvement Association will not be held. Under the auspices of the Pembroke Road School Committee the last of a series of pleasant social evenings was held last night, there being a large attendance. The prizes for the best fanev costumes were won by Miss Myers and Air. Smith (Cardiff). Miss Reilly supplied the music for the dances, extras being played by Miss Martin. A grand wind-up danee will be held in the Stanley Road £chool on Wednesday next. Mrs. Bianehi's orchestra will supply the music and a good supper will be provided.

THE KING'S THEATRE, STRATFORD. A special matinee performance will be given at the King's Theatre, Stratford, to-day, commencing at 2 p.m., when "Shoulder Arms," Charlie Chaplin's greatest comedy will be screened. There is also a gazette and an educational, picture. At to-night's performance, in addition to "Shoulder Arms," the Tlieda Bara super-production "When a Woman Sins" will also bo shown. Playing the role of Poppea, a notorious wanton, Miss Bara delineates with great power, and yet with touching appeal, the human, lovable side of ft woman whose life threads the devious paths of pleasure. The woman, though 1 many men lay their wealth at her feet, continues to love a young divinity student. His Puritanical training, however, will not allow him 1o countenance her until at last, in despair, she is about to end her life.
