DISPUTE OVER ITS CONTROL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 24, 11.5 p.m. New York, Oct. 23. It is learned that the United States, at the International Communications Conference, will seek the internationalisation of the Pacific island Yap as a cable landing station. It is understood the United States' desires to prevent Japan securing exclusive control over cables entering and branching off from Yap. Japan claims.that the Supreme Peace Council gave her the control of Yap as part of the mandatories over ex-German Pacific islands north of the equator. The United States contends that the final disposition of Yap was to be left till the International Communications Conference.—Ane.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
