POLAND AND VILNA.
POLES WILLING TO SETTLE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, October 22. In reply to the joint Anglo-French Note, Poland refuses responsibility for the action of Zelignowski. Poland has respected, and will respect, the armistice, and is willing to assist in settling the Vilna queston on an "impartial basis." Received Oct. 23, 5.6 p.m. Copenhagen, Oct. 22. Messages from Kovno state that Zelignowski's army at Vilna lias been reinforced, and now consists of six divisions. It i.s now anticipated that Zelignowski will advance against Kovno. He points out that it will be right to occupy western Lithuania.
The Poles are concentrating important forces between Suwalkl and the German frontier, and the Lithuanians fear the Poles' will advance against the I'Memel district on tho pretext that Lithuania intends to form an alliance with Germany, but Lithuanians state the rumors of an alliance are groundless.—Aus.-N.Z.
