PERSONAL.

The Rev. O. Blundell, of New Plymouth, leaves for Auckland this morning to attend the golden wedding of his father and mother, who have reached the ages of 81 and 71 respectively. Mr. P. S. Goldsmith, of the New Plymouth staff of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed accountant at the Hawero branch of the bank. The funeral of the late Constable J. Wroblenski took place on Saturday* morning at Te Henni Cemetery, the Very Rev. Dean McKenna officiating. A large number of members of the police force of the district and some ex-mem-bers of the force attended, and provided a bearer party. Among a number of floral tributes laid on the casket was one from the late constable's fellow-officers.

At liltham on Friday the members of the stall' of the railway station and Ihe local carters bade farewell to Mr. B. M'lveown, for four years in charge of the goods department, and presented him with a silver cigarette case and goldmounted fountain pen. Mr. M'lveown has been transferred to the passenger department at Auckland. Mr. R. Gutteridgq, who has been manager for the Colonial Sugar Company at Auckland since the retirement of Mr. W. Philson a few months ago, will retire at the end of this month, and the vacancy will be tilled by Mr. W. Brendon Parsons. Mr. (lutteridge joined the staff in Auckland in ISS4. Mr. Parsons is a brother of Mrs. J. Patoii, of New Plymouth.

Writing from Quebec under date September 14th, Mr. J. Hutchison, editor of the Otago Daily Times, says that although he is coining back to the Dominion after eight years' absence, it is probable that Sir Thomas Mackenzie will return to England early in the new year.
