PERSONAL.
Detective Fitzgibbon, of Auckland, and formerly of New Plyraoutli, is in New Plymouth on holiday. Mr. E. Cowic, of the Bank of Xew Zealand staff at Taihape, has received notice of his transfer to Hawera. Mr, Norman Day, of the staff of the New Plyraoutli Boys' High School, has been appointed second assistant at the Hamilton East School. Messrs. J. W. Hayden and P. E. Stainton were passengers for Wellington by the mail train yesterday. Mr. J. H. Qnilliam and Mr. S. Burgess were passengers by the Earawa for OneImnga last evening. Mr. Donald Ross, oE Opunake, has been appointed judge of the dancing events at the Wairarapa Caledonian Society's sports at Mastenton on New Year's Day.
Mr. W. W. Smith, who has been jurator of the Pukekura Park, New Plymonth, for the past twelve years, lias tendered his resignation, to take effect from the end of the present month.
Detective-Sergeant J. Cooney has been transferred from Hamilton to New Plymouth. He arrived hers! by the mail train last night. Detective-Sergeant Cooney has-had nine years' service in Hamilton. Before leaving Hamilton he was presented with a wallet of notes and a gold watch. Mr. E. 11. Northcroft, president of the Hamilton Law Society, made the presentation.
