THE PRICE OF MEAT.
' (To the Editor.) Sir.—l think it Is high time something was done to bring down the? price of meat. Tte butchers have had all their own way now for a long time, and recently when a big drop occurred in the price of stock, instead of a fall In the price of meat, 3d. a lb was put on to some joints, steak, etc. Now, I would advise the mothers of this district to curtail their purchases of meat, to grow more vegetables, and use more fruit, to raise a few chickens, and simply boycott the butchers, and to leave them wltt their meat to go bud on their slielves, and then perlups It will set them thinking as to the cause. What is our Board of Trade doing in the matter? Simply nothing I See to it, mothers I Your children can do with less meeat, as they do In the Old Country, where tl-ey grow up a fine stalwart race with perhaps having meat on the table only once a week. I hope someone else will take this matter up, as it Is a very serious subject for those with large families and small incomes. Try it, mothers. It is worth u trial, and I wbih you all success.—l am, etc., A MOTHER OF SIX. Oimata, 19th October.
