WATERSIDERS SORE.
RESENT WAR REGULATION.?, PREMIER REFUSES CHANGE, . By TolegTaph.—J>rt33 Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation from the Waterside Workers' Federation interviewed Mr. Massoy to-day, and protested against the continuance of the war regulations pertaining to wharves and shipping. Speakers said the regulations were the cause of suspicion and discontent among ! watersiders, because they seemed to be so biased. Their retention seemed to be (1 :'teil against one section of the pubiic, namely the watersiders, and the men felt sore about the matter. The Prime Minister said that it was not true that the regulations had been aimed at the watersiders especially. Thero was no need to interfere with British citizens, but the case was different with foreigners, who were not known. Ha did not think the Government had gone too far in connection with the regulations. The Government was simply doing its best to ensure that matters should go smoothly on the wharves, and that nothing should happen to make the country repent having let foreigners in. He believed the watersiders were magnifying the trouble over the regulations. A man who kept within the four corners of the law was as free in New Zealand to-day as he had ever been.
