GOLF.
LADIES' TOURNAMENT. IN AID OF GIRLS' HOSTEL An all-day tournament, arranged by the ladies of the New Plymouth Club, took place at Waiwakaiho yesterday, in aid of (he Girls' Hostel Funds, and it is expected £7 or £8 will be available, after all expenses have been paid. Two matches for ladies were played—a medal round In the morning, and a bogey match in the afternoon —while driving, approaching, and putting competitions were also held. There were several visitors from other clubs, and an enjoyable day was spent. In the afternoon a bogey match for men was played, as well as putting for men. The ladies' committee wish to thank those who donated prlzo3, and all whoso assistance contributed to the success of the day. They are also grateful for the extra work done by the caretaker in preparing the links for the 'tournament. Details of the play are:—

The weather was fine, but a strong wind made play difficult. Kirkwood was unable to strike form, and lies obtained the lead In the, early stages and kept it. :o lie finish. A feature of the match was the consistent driving by both, but the short play, approaches, and pints were badly played by both.
