BOOKMAKERS FAIL TO RECOVER. By Teleeraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrijlil. London, Oct. 18. A verdict was given for Lord Lough'borough in the case in which he was sued by a firm of bookmakers for recovery of £440 on a dishonored cheque given in settlement of a racing bet. The verdict ivas for the defendant on the ground that it was a gaming transaotion.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. [A previous message stated that, the defence pleaded the Gaming Act, adding that the cheque was not met because Lord Loughborough's trustees, hearing he was betting., refused ta advance the money. Lord Loughborough, who is -8, js the eldest son of the Earl of Ros<4vu. He served at the Dardanelles and was wounded.]
