THE HIGH SCHOOLS.

I THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The monthly meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Plymouth High Schools was held last night. Present: Messrs. L. C. Sladden (in the chair), H. Trimble, J. S, Fox, A. E. Washer, L. A. Nolan, A. Morton, and P. W. Atkinson. Leave of absence ; was granted Dr. Fookes and Messrs. S. G. Smith, M.P., and E. P. Webster. The question of insuring pupils at the school was again brought tip, and the chairman reported that arrangements had been made for a policy of £IOOO to be taken out to cover the risk of accidents. The chairman's action was confirmed. Mr. Nolan's action in having a roadway put down at the school was confirmed. The position in regard to the Opaku reserve was under review, and the chairman reported that a conference was to be held with the Education Board'delegates on the subject.
