ORGANISER OF MURDERS. REWARD FOR HIS ARREST. | By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, ! );i Received Oct. 17, 11.6 p.m. London, Oct. 17. A reward of £IOOO has been offered for information resulting in the arrest of a Sinn Fein general, Daniel Breen, aged 27, formerly a laborer, and described as commandant of the 3rd Tipperary Brigade of the Republican Army. He is a fanatic of sulky appearance, and the leader of a gang specialising in muderous outrages. Breen is wanted on several charges of murder, including a recent incident, when Breen escaped by jumping from a window to a greenhouse, injuring a leg. It is believed Breen is hiding in Eng-land.—'AU9.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE LATEST TERRORISM, LOCKED UP WITH THE DEAD. Received Oct. 18, 12.45 a.m. London, Oct. 17. A defendant in Clare County, refusing to pay a Sinn Fein claim, was shut in a vauit containing five coffins and terrorised into compliance. A Cork telegram states auxiliary police dragged Lenane, a civilian at Ballymakeery from his home, put him against a fence, and shot him dead. Military and auxiliary police thrice raided the premises of Peter O'Carroll, an invalid shopkeeper of Dublin, in search for his two sons, who, however, were sleeping elsewhere. Another raid, attributed to the same parties, occurred on Saturday. O'Carroll was killed and a paper was fastened to his clothes inscribed "Traitor to Ireland, shot by I.R.A." —Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
ULSTER CIVIL GUARD. MAGISTRATE AND J.P. KIDNAPPED. London, Oct. 15. The organisation of the Ulster Civil Guard is nearly complete. They comprise two paid classes of permanent and occasional police and an unlimited number of unpaid volunteers. Practically all of the Guard are ex-service men and ex-members of the Ulster Volunteers. A secret service staff is also organising to combat the secret activities of the Sinn Fein. Its members will be mainly ex-officers. Mr. Moore, the resident magistrate at Mullingar, and Mr. Hyde, a Justice of the Peace, while motoring to the pe/ty sessions were kidnapped by masked men.
