THE MAIN BODY.
ANNIVERSARY OF DEPARTURE. Saturday was the sixth anniversary of the departure from "Wellington of the Main Body of the Expeditionary Force. It consisted of about 8000 men. 1 !;e fleet of transports in which the contingent went away moved out from tiie wharf on the previous evening and anchored for the night in the harbor, where -tliey and then' escorts presented a remark-able spectacle, the lino of shippi;!,? appearing Io extend from Queen's wharf almost io Somes Island. Though the vessels began their long voyage soon after daybreak, many thousands of people were astir to watch them go, every point of vantage within reach being occup:ed. This anniversary will long he a well-marked day in Now Zealand history.
