IS. flie New Jersey State Boxing Commission las decided tentatively to investigate the Urpentler-'Levlnsky flght to quiet rumors published in Now York papers alleging that the bout was faked. Carpentler indignantly denies tie insinuation, and asks for a square deal. He pledges Ills honor as a soldier of France that he fought to the best of his ability. Levlnsk.v has also made a statement denying that he lay down. He said he never recovered from the blow in the second round. The New Jersey Boxing Commission believes that the fight was fair, but is desirous of giving the authors of the Insinuations an opportunity to submit evidence, if they have any. The New York Boxing Commission granted Carpentler a license to box in this State Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
ELTHAM CLUB. A Sports and Pastimes Club was formed at Eltham on Friday night. Tljjs following were appointed to the organising commitec: Messrs. P. Hawke, J. Cooper U. Grant, A. V. Mills, J. O'Neill, C. R. K.' Cumming, J. \y. Turnbull, Grenfell, and C. Harrison. Considerable discussion took place concerning tile activities of the club, and it was decided to conllne the club to boilng, It being considered that a gymnasium would be 100 expensive and also not advantageous to the training of those who wished to take up Doling,
