URUTI. j (From Our Own Correspondent.) A strong effort is being made to hold a "Church Day" at Uruti in the summer, to nugMent the Home Mission funds. Contributions may be sent to either of tiro local secretaries—Mrs. H. Larsen ("Woodlands," Pehu), or Mrs. D. S. Butt ("Haehanga," Uruti). OAKURA* (From Our Own Correspondent.) For the quarter ended September 30th the following pupils made full attendances at the local school:—Standard t>, Viola Price, .Murray Sefton; Standard 5, Keithu Marsh, Irene Wilklns, Fred Telford; Standard 4, ' Susie Mills, Jack Wilkins; Standard 2, Margaret Stobie, Clifford Price, Theo Smitb; P.l, Laurie Price. The children are quite looking forward to the school social, which is to tako place shortly, wlien dances will be interspersed with children's items. I understand that some of the organised games are to be played, and this should prove an innovation. Wo arc also to have an exhibition in club swinging by the Misses Price. It is to bo hoped tiro people will roll up in full force, as tho proceeds are for a good cause, namely, the beautifying of the school grounds. The fancy dress bail held in the hall recently was a great success, and reflected great, croclit osi the committee. There wer(- home very pretty and original eostumee. Prizc-3 were awarded as fellows: Miss M. Crockett, Aladdin (fancy cosauue) ; Miss Clarice Ifoneyfield, Peanuts (most original); Mr. D. Harvey, Sir Walter Raleigh (fancy costume); .Mr. C. West, Black and White (most original). During the evening a splendid supper wan handed round. Messrs. Jans and C. West acted as M.CVs, .Music was supplied by Messrs. A. Pearson (piano), and F. Morris (violin). Extras were played by Mrs. Beek and Mrs. Plckford. Songs were rendered by Misses E. Perrott and D. Coates, both being encored. Our vicar (the Rev. C. Addenbrooke) is leaving the district towards tire end of the year, and will be greatly missed.
